1. Elahe Ahmadi
Grammar B / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Elahe spoke fluently and volunteered further information without being asked. At times, she struggled to use the correct tense (e.g. saying “I was exercise” instead of “I exercised”), but she demonstrated the ability to self-correct. There was some confusion over the question “What does your father look like?” as she went onto describe his personality in addition to his appearance. Very enthusiastic, but would do well to calmly listen to the question before answering. Very good overall.
2. Hosniyeh Saberi
Grammar A / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Hosniyeh was quite confident and well spoken. She articulated words clearly and spoke with good fluency. There were some small errors with tenses, particularly the present continuous, and she occasionally mixed up he/she pronouns, but very good overall. She was particularly good with adjectives when describing her family.
3. Marjan Pishahang
Grammar B / Fluency B / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary B
Marjan seemed a little nervous, but there is no reason to be! She struggled a little with the months of the year, but otherwise answered the questions with care and precision. There were some grammatical errors in Question 7 (e.g. “I go to running”), so I would recommend she revises phrases to do with exercise and hobbies. Fluency will come with practice and confidence. Relax!
4. Zohreh Vafapoor
Grammar B / Fluency B / Pronunciation B / Vocabulary B
Zohreh seemed a little nervous, which led to hesitant answers. She did, however, use those pauses to think about her answers, and so was able to respond well to questions. Pronunciation and vocabulary were fairly strong. Perhaps she can practice asking and answering questions with her classmates to get her responses a little smoother.
5. Marziyeh Gholami
Grammar A / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Very good. Marziyeh was fluent and articulate. She used a good selection of vocabulary, particularly when talking about free time and when using adjectives to describe her family. There were occasional errors (e.g. “he is brown eyes”), but she was quick to realise and corrected herself calmly. Maybe take a little moment to think through answers first to avoid making small mistakes.
6. Shabnam Jalali
Grammar C / Fluency A / Pronunciation B / Vocabulary B
Shabnam was a confident and fluent speaker, but had a tendency to rush into answers. Whilst her answer to Question 1 was well delivered, it went well beyond what the question required and she began to speak about subjects irrelevant to the question. There was some confusion with the days of the week – although I am sure she knows them really! There were a few grammatical errors, particularly in Question 7 (e.g. “I’m swimming twice a week”), so I would recommend she revises her tenses once more. The main point for Shabnam is that she should slow down and think about the question before beginning her answer.
7. Sorosh Saadati Far
Grammar C / Fluency B / Pronunciation B / Vocabulary B
Sorosh seemed a little nervous at first, but he eased into it gradually and seemed fine by the end. He gave too much information in Question 1, when he started talking about irrelevant subjects while introducing himself. He should take care to listen to each question and only give the information asked for. It is ok to elaborate, but try not to go off topic! He seemed uncertain about Question 7, as he avoided answering how often he exercises, so perhaps he could revise how to answer questions of frequency.
8. Amin Oji
Grammar C / Fluency C / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary B
Considering the Internet connection was very bad at this point and we struggled to hear each other, Amin did well. Fluency was no doubt impeded by the quality of the connection, which in turn seemed to affect his confidence. He answered Question 9 when I had asked him Question 8, which suggests he hadn’t heard my question properly. Similarly, when I asked him what his mother looks like, he replied that she is a housewife instead of telling me about her appearance. Always take a moment to listen to and think about the question before answering. Be careful with singular/plural too (e.g. “his eyelash are dark”).
9. Amin Firozi
Grammar B / Fluency C / Pronunciation B / Vocabulary B
Amin had a tendency to give incomplete answers (e.g. saying only “soccer” instead of “I play soccer”). While he had clearly understood the question, it would have been better if he had given fuller sentences. Otherwise, his answers were fairly good, although he could work on improving his tenses more.
10. Hosein Dekleh
Grammar B / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Aside from forgetting October and November in the months, Hosein did very well. He spoke fluently and demonstrated knowledge of some good phrases, such as “take a nap” and “have a picnic”. Remember not to confuse “much” and “more” when talking about time. And remember the difference between ‘accountant’ (the profession) and ‘accountancy’ (the subject you study).
11. Hasan Beyzaei
Grammar B / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Hasan answered all questions fluently and eloquently. There were some small errors (e.g. “I go for shopping”) with grammar, so I suggest he should revise ‘hobbies’ and work on his tenses. Otherwise, his answers were clear and detailed. Well done.
12. Mehdi Barzegar
Grammar A / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Very good introduction. Mehdi volunteered information and went beyond the question without going off topic. He gave a good level of detail to every question, offering full and relevant information that made his answers interesting to listen to.
13. Hosein Yazdani
Grammar C / Fluency B / Pronunciation B / Vocabulary B
Hosein answered most questions with fluency and accuracy, but he struggled a little with the “how often” question, so I suggest that he spends some time revising adverbs of frequency and practices answering these questions.
14. Morteza Moradi
Grammar A / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Very fluent and well spoken, Morteza answered all questions well. There was a minor hiccup when going through the months, but otherwise no major problems. Morteza’s answers had a good level of detail and his knowledge and use of adjectives were very good. Remember the difference between ‘tall’ and ‘high’ when describing people!
15. Mohammad Rasouli
Grammar B / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Mohammad was incredibly confident and gave full, strong answers to every question. There were some small errors with the months, but otherwise he provided detailed and fluent answers. Well done.
16. Ali Moftakhar
Grammar C / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Ali is very confident as a speaker. He got Saturday and Sunday the wrong way around, but I am sure he knows them really! Remember not to confuse ‘much’ and ‘more’ when speaking about time (e.g. “I don’t have more free time” should be “I don’t have much free time”). There were some problems with Question 7, and Ali seemed unclear about the question. He needs to make sure he listens carefully to every question to avoid confusion. Otherwise he did very well. Questions 9 and 16 were particularly good. He used many adjectives and gave a lot of relevant detail. It felt like a natural conversation. But take a little more care with tenses (e.g. “I reading”).
17. Ali Boshehriyan
Grammar A / Fluency A / Pronunciation A / Vocabulary A
Ali answered all questions fluently and intelligently. He had a particularly good knowledge of vocabulary and was able to use a broad range of words correctly. Apart from a couple of small mistakes (“her is”, “kindful”), he did very well. Take a moment to think about your answer before speaking to avoid silly mistakes.
